Prenuptial and Postnuptial Agreements

Many couples choose to create a legal document outlining ownership of items, property and businesses before entering into a marriage. Known as pre-nuptial agreements, they are common in second marriages where one party has been divorced or widowed, with a goal of protecting children from a prior marriage and/or keeping property separate. Often, wealthy individuals draft pre-nuptial agreements before marrying for a first time to preserve family assets or future inheritances.
